An injection-molded plastic kit from the Polish maker Arma Hobby. The brand has the Hurricane in 1:48 worked out across a whole series of versions, from the Mk I through the Mk IIb and IIc to the carrier-based form, so a collection can be built as a complete set. The surface is finely engraved and the parts fit is among this brand's strong points.
The Hurricane was the first British single-wing fighter with retractable landing gear and eight machine guns in the wing. In its design it stood on the border of two eras: the fuselage was a lattice frame covered with fabric, while the wing went over to a metal skin. It was precisely this older construction that proved an advantage, because a hit passed through the fabric without much damage and a damaged machine could be repaired quickly. In the Battle of Britain there were more Hurricanes than Spitfires and they shot down a greater number of German aircraft. Czechoslovak and Polish squadrons flew Hurricanes as well.
Finish the cockpit and paint it before you glue the fuselage together, or you will no longer reach it. The parts are glued with liquid cement for plastic. Fit the glazing and mask it before spraying. Before the decals, go over the areas with a gloss coat; on a matte surface air would be trapped under a decal and the edge would turn white. Unify the finished paintwork with a matte varnish and only then add the chipping and the exhaust stains.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
