A set of printed wheels for the Fieseler Fi 156 Storch in the C-2 and D-1 versions, 1:72 scale, the maker IBG. This is not an airplane kit but a replacement part. Printing from resin gives the tire a clean pattern with no parting line and the hub a detail that gets lost in a plastic molding in a small scale.
The Storch had long landing gear with a long travel, and because of that its wheels are more conspicuous than on an ordinary fighter. Everybody sees them on a finished model and a plastic molding with its parting line running across the tread tells at first glance. A wheel is also one of the few parts where a swap shows immediately and without any work on the plastic.
Separate the parts from the print supports, smooth the pads and wash them in lukewarm water with dish soap before painting. They are glued with super glue. For a tire choose dark gray rather than pure black, and a hub takes a metallic or a colored tone depending on the particular aircraft. Dust on the lower part of the wheel will give the model contact with the ground. If you are seating a wheel into the fork of the landing gear, check that both sides stand in the same plane, or the model will be visibly tilted on its base.
The set is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
