A starter kit with the Mercedes C9 sports prototype in 1:43 scale. Besides the parts it holds paints, a brush and glue.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the Mercedes C9 sports prototype in 1:43 scale from the maker Heller, supplied as a starter kit. That means there is not only a model in the box but also the basic paints, a brush and glue, so building can start as soon as it is unwrapped. The number of parts is deliberately low, so the build takes one evening.
The Mercedes C9 was a closed Group C sports prototype, that is, from the category which at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s was among the technically most interesting in the history of endurance racing. The car with a turbocharged engine in a silver finish followed on from the tradition of the Silver Arrows and in 1989 it won the twenty-four-hour race at Le Mans. Its smooth body was designed for extreme speed on long straights.
A small scale forgives less than it seems: a silver body will show every unevenness, so it pays to sand the surface and degrease it before painting. Apply the paints from the set in thin coats and let them dry properly. Lay the decals onto a smooth gloss base. Glue the glazing with a glue that does not fog, or with decal varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The basic paints, a brush and glue are part of the package with this starter kit.
