A kit of the Skoda heavy siege howitzer of 30.5 centimeter caliber in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Hauler. The model is of resin, so it is work for a more experienced builder: the parts are washed before the build, the casting blocks are cut off and they are glued with super glue.
The siege howitzer of 30.5 centimeter caliber came about in the Skoda works in Pilsen before the First World War and was among the most effective guns of its day. It was designed so that it could be taken apart into several loads and moved by tractor, which with a weapon of this weight was not a matter of course. It made its name shelling Belgian and French fortresses and it stayed in service far later, when it was used by the German army in the Second World War.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap and let them dry out thoroughly. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw, level the surfaces on abrasive paper and use respiratory protection when sanding. They are glued with super glue, and on larger surfaces epoxy holds well too. A gray or field shade stands out with a dark wash into the recesses and light dust on the base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted as a resin kit. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
