A vacuum-formed canopy for the S-Kauba SK-257 in 1:72 scale from Brengun. A replacement canopy for the kit from the same manufacturer, not a whole model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The manufacturer describes the product as a vacuum-formed canopy for its own SK-257 kit. It is a clear molding drawn over a form, which replaces the glazing from the sprue. It is not a model of an aircraft or a detail set, but a single replacement part of the cockpit.
Injection-molded canopies have a thicker wall and often a glassy shine with a slight distortion. A vacuum-formed molding is markedly thinner, so the frame looks right in scale and there is a better view into the cockpit, which pays off especially where the modeler has worked on the interior. A thin wall also makes an open cockpit easier: the edge of the swung-back section does not look like a plank. The price for that is more demanding work, because the part has to be cut out of its backing film.
Trace the edge with a marker, separate the material with scissors leaving a margin and sand down to the edge on matte paper, best of all laid flat. It can be polished with polishing compound or by dipping it in a gloss varnish. Glue it with a canopy cement or with thin white PVA glue, as cyanoacrylate glue will fog the surface. Fit the mask only once it is polished.
This is an add-on for a model. The base SK-257 kit from Brengun, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
