ATOM Regia Aeronautica Early Colours - a paint set (6 x 20 ml)

A set of acrylic modeling paints from the ATOM line by AMMO of Mig Jimenez. The box states six bottles of 20 ml and the subject of Italian aircraft of the early period of the Second World War. ATOM is a water-based paint for brush as well as airbrush and dries to a matte surface.

Use

• With a brush straight from the bottle; for an airbrush, thin it with the acrylic thinner of the same manufacturer to the consistency of milk.
• For mottled schemes an airbrush at low pressure and paint thinned more than for a covering coat work well.
• Seal the paint with a gloss coat before the decals, as a decal will not settle on a matte surface.
• Stir the bottle, as the pigment settles at the bottom.
• Do not thin it with lacquer or cellulose thinner.
• Always let the individual shades dry before going on with the next one, otherwise the mottling runs together.

Who it is for

For modelers who build Italian fighters and bombers from the first years of the war. Early Italian machines wore irregular blotches and speckling over a lighter base and a light underside, so imitating them calls for more shades than the later continuous coats. Six bottles of 20 ml will last several models and suit the accessories of a scene too. The shades are not listed by name here; the description on the bottles and the period documentation for the machine are what count.
