A resin set of detail parts for a model of the German Albatros W.4 floatplane fighter in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Black Dog. The manufacturer gives fourteen resin parts and names as base kit the Albatros W.4 from Gavia with the part number 016/0109. The aircraft itself is not included in the package.
The Albatros W.4 was a German floatplane fighter of the First World War, developed from the land-based Albatros D.I to defend naval bases in the North Sea and the Baltic. It received stronger wings of greater span and two long floats in place of the wheeled landing gear. Around a hundred and eighty were built and the machines served from 1916 at German naval stations, where they escorted patrol flights and defended harbors.
First rinse the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine-tooth saw rather than snapping them. Sanding is better done under water or with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); solvent cement for plastic will not hold on resin. A primer is needed before painting. On a floatplane, do not forget the struts between the floats; without them the assembly will not hold its shape.
The accessory set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
