A plastic kit of the American military ambulance Dodge WC-54 in 1:35 scale from the Italian brand Italeri. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and glue and paints are not included in the package. An ambulance is a rewarding model for a diorama: the tall box body combines well with figures and with the small fittings of the medical service.
The Dodge WC-54 was an American military ambulance built on the chassis of the WC truck series with all-wheel drive. The box body took stretchers and seated wounded, so the vehicle carried the injured from the forward dressing stations to the field hospitals. Tens of thousands were built and they accompanied Allied units on every European front; after the war they also turned up in civilian service. It is one of the best-known images of the medical service of that time.
With military equipment it pays to keep to the order: the running gear and the interior first, then closing up the body, and only at the end the small fittings. Glue the plastic parts with a thin cement for plastic, fill the seams and sand them down. After the primer and the main shade comes a dark wash into the recesses, which picks out the detail, and a dry brush on the edges. Build up dust and mud effects with pigments from the bottom upward and only in places where dirt would really get to.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
