A pre-cut set of masking stencils for the canopy glazing of the French jet fighter MD-450 Ouragan in 1:72 scale. It is made by the Czech brand Peewit, which cuts the stencils from yellow paper-fabric adhesive tape. The box gives the Ouragan from Kovozavody Prostejov as the target kit. The package holds self-adhesive masks, not plastic parts and not decals.
The MD-450 Ouragan was the first French jet fighter built in series. It flew in 1949, had a straight wing, a jet engine derived from the British Nene and armament in the nose. Besides the French Air Force it was used by India under the name Toofani and by Israel, whose Ouragans took part in the fighting in 1956 and in the Six-Day War. In its day it was a transitional type between piston fighters and the supersonic generation.
The masks are lifted off the carrier sheet with the point of a sharp modeling knife, transferred with pointed tweezers and pressed down with a sharpened wooden stick. It is that pressing down all the way round that decides the result: wherever the paint creeps under, a blurred edge appears. Degrease the canopy first, apply a thin coat of the frame color and lift the masking pieces off the same day, while the adhesive has not hardened. On a clear part use a stick, not a knife, so that no scratch is left.
This is an accessory to a model, not a kit of an aircraft. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
