DSPIAE AT-ECD, a masking tape cutting mat, type D is an aid for cutting masking tape precisely into straight strips, size 110 x 233 mm.
Responsibility details are not available.
A modeling aid for dividing masking tape precisely. The mat, 110 x 233 mm in size, is from the maker DSPIAE and is intended as type D, that is for cutting straight strips; the tape is stuck onto the mat and a strip of the desired width is cut off it with a knife along the marked lines. It is not a paint and not a kit but a tool.
Masking is the most common source of frustration on a model, because a strip cut off unevenly shows under the spray as a frayed edge. Dividing tape on a mat with marked lines is therefore considerably more reliable than doing it freehand: the edge comes out straight and the width repeatable, which helps when masking wavy patterns, demarcation lines and stripes. The mat also protects the work surface and the edge of the knife.
Stick the tape onto the mat parallel to the marked lines and press it down along its whole length, so that it does not lift during the cut. Cut with a new blade and in one pass, because a repeated pass frays the edge. Take the finished strip off the mat with tweezers, not with a fingernail. Guide the knife vertically and without pressing into the mat; the less you dig into the material, the longer the mat will last and the straighter the edges of the next strips will be.
This is a tool. Masking tape, a knife and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
