The MiniArt 48038 P-47D-22-RE Thunderbolt kit in 1:48 scale in the Advanced Kit release, with the bulged British Malcolm Hood canopy.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Republic P-47D-22-RE fighter in 1:48 scale, the manufacturer's part number 48038. It comes in the Advanced Kit release: in this range that means a richer package than the Basic Kit version, and on a comparable item of the range it is a photo-etched fret and parts beyond the basic kit. Check the contents of the package and the schemes on the box.
The P-47 Thunderbolt was a heavy single-engine fighter with a Pratt and Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine and a turbosupercharger in the rear fuselage. The D-22-RE production block was built at the Farmingdale plant and still belongs to the so-called razorbacks, that is, to the version with a spine running smoothly into the fin and with a framed sliding canopy. It was precisely the poor view to the rear that led to a conversion on some of the machines: the bulged British Malcolm Hood, known mainly from Mustangs, appeared on Thunderbolts only rarely and always as a field modification, which makes it a rewarding and striking subject.
Finish the engine and its cowling panels before you close up the fuselage, and watch the seating of the bulged canopy so that it does not stand off. Glue the photo-etched parts in the advanced release with cyanoacrylate glue. A lacquer metallic shade over a smooth base suits the natural metal surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
