Catapults for the battleship Bismarck in 1:200 scale from the brand Spalah, intended for Trumpeter kits. This is the aircraft catapult from amidships, a resin accessory for a model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of parts of an aircraft catapult for a large ship model in 1:200 scale. This is not a kit of a ship, but a replacement of a factory component with a sharper resin part. The manufacturer states two pieces and intends the set for Trumpeter kits. The supplier spells the name of the ship with an error; correctly it is Bismarck. Spalah is a Ukrainian brand and 3D prints its parts from photopolymer resin.
Amidships, between the funnel and the mainmast, the Bismarck carried a double catapult thirty-two meters long, which could be extended telescopically out over the sides to forty-eight meters and launch to either side. Arado Ar 196 floatplanes took off from it, four as standard; they served for reconnaissance and observation. A machine returned to the deck from the water by crane and the ship had to come almost to a stop for that, which was a risky maneuver on the open sea. The aircraft were kept in hangars beneath the mainmast and on either side of the funnel.
Wash the parts free of resin residue and cut off the print supports, protecting your breathing while sanding. Resin is joined with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), cement for plastic will not bond it, and a primer coat is mandatory. The catapult is a long thin part, so glue it on a flat surface and watch that it does not bow.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The Trumpeter base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
