A set for a model of the F-5E or F-5F Tiger II aircraft in 1:48 scale. This is not an aircraft kit but an accessory that replaces the pylon on the fuselage hardpoint on the aircraft centerline. The box names the target kit: the machine from AFV Club, and the same molds are released by Eduard as well. The manufacturer's part number is 48045 and the set is made by the Czech brand Kopecky Scale Models from Liberec.
The Northrop F-5E and the two-seat F-5F Tiger II are light supersonic fighters that grew out of the F-5A Freedom Fighter. A pair of General Electric J85 engines with afterburning and an undemanding structure made them the most widespread machine of their kind with dozens of air forces. The aircraft carries seven hardpoints.
This set covers a single pylon, the one on the fuselage centerline under the belly of the aircraft, where the F-5 most often took a large drop tank. Do not confuse it with the wing pylon set, which the manufacturer lists separately under number 48044: that one holds the pylons under the wings, a more numerous group of parts. The centerline pylon has a different shape and different locks than the wing ones, and the two cannot be interchanged. The manufacturer lists the same version in the larger 1:32 scale under number 32079.
