The quarter-ton 4x4 cross-country vehicle is the best-known vehicle of its class; between 1941 and 1945 over 634 thousand units of it were built, and it carried liaison officers, the wounded and ammunition. Armor did not belong to the production standard; units added it themselves. The 82nd Airborne Division created its own standardized armor kit. Armored vehicles were used for reconnaissance and as escorts for convoys; some carried the heavy M2 machine gun of 12.7 mm caliber on a mount between the seats, other vehicles a pair of anti-tank rocket launchers. Both the armor and the weapon meant added weight on a light chassis, so it was an improvisation for a particular task, not a production type.
The model is small and has many parts for its size, so do not hurry: paint the frame, the axles and the floor separately and only then join them. Glue the armor plates on after the base color has dried, so that you can reach under them with a brush. The olive shade looks better when lighter oversprays are worked into the surfaces and the edges are emphasized with dry brushing. Paint the machine gun separately and degrease the barrel before applying a metallic shade to it.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
