An injection-molded plastic kit of the German eight-wheeled armored car Sd.Kfz. 234/4 with the 7.5 cm anti-tank gun, in 1:35 scale. This is the newer, reworked version of the mold from 2013. According to the manufacturer it has a faithfully rendered suspension and steering, a one-piece chassis frame, wheels deflectable into various positions, three muzzle brakes to choose from, a thin gun shield with rivets and markings for four vehicles from 1945. The manufacturer also keeps the older version of the same vehicle, which came with photo-etched parts, a turned metal barrel and brass width indicators; compare the versions on the packaging.
The Sd.Kfz. 234/4 was the most heavily armed member of the Sd.Kfz. 234 line of eight-wheeled armored cars. Instead of a turret it received an open superstructure with the 7.5 cm anti-tank gun PaK 40 L/46, that is the same weapon the infantry used in field positions. Propulsion was provided by a Tatra V-twelve diesel, the chassis had steerable wheels at both ends and a second driving position for reversing. Only 89 vehicles were built, and that between December 1944 and March 1945. A powerful gun on an exposed chassis was an emergency solution of the end of the war.
The open superstructure hides nothing, so paint the interior and the gun breech before you close the fighting compartment with the shield. Fit the wheels only onto a finished chassis, so that you can align them in one direction. Spray the late production camouflage in thin coats; pigments suit the chassis.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
