An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy tank destroyer Sd.Kfz. 184 Elefant in 1:35 scale. The mold originated in 2000 and, according to the manufacturer, captures the late version, that is the machine after its rebuild with a machine gun in the frontal hull armor and with a commander's cupola on the roof of the casemate. Check the extent of the package on the packaging.
The Elefant arose from the chassis that Porsche had built for its unsuccessful heavy tank design. Into the fixed casemate was installed the anti-tank gun 8.8 cm PaK 43/2 with a barrel length of 71 calibers, which shot through the frontal armor of practically every Allied tank. The propulsion was gasoline-electric: two Maybach HL 120 TRM spark-ignition engines drove generators and those fed traction electric motors. Only 91 units were built. The machines first went into battle at Kursk in 1943, still under the name Ferdinand, and there it became clear that without a machine gun the machine was defenseless in close combat; the rebuilds in the winter of 1943 therefore added a machine gun in the hull and a commander's cupola, and from 1944 the type was called Elefant.
Finish the running gear and the track assembly before you fit the side walls of the casemate; afterward access is tight. Check the long barrel against the light so that it stands on the axis, and support it while gluing. Spray the late production yellow base color in thin coats, apply the camouflage by spattering and emphasize the edges with dry brushing. Pigments suit the running gear, a fine dark wash the armor.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
