An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy tank Tiger II in 1:35 scale. This is the version with the production turret, traditionally called the Henschel turret, with a coating of the protective paste Zimmerit and with the markings of the 505th heavy tank battalion on the Eastern Front. According to the manufacturer, a space is left in the Zimmerit on the right side of the turret precisely for the emblem of the leaping knight that this battalion used. The mold is from 2016. The manufacturer also keeps the version with the earlier turret, which is called the Porsche turret. Check the extent of the package on the packaging.
The Tiger II combined steeply sloped armor with the 8.8 cm KwK 43 gun with a barrel length of 71 calibers, which at ordinary combat ranges shot through the frontal armor of practically every Allied tank. Propulsion was provided by the Maybach HL 230 P30 spark-ignition V-twelve, but its power was not enough for a machine this heavy, so the transmission and the running gear wore out excessively. The production turret had a flat front wall and a larger ammunition load than the earlier type. The 505th heavy tank battalion received Tiger II tanks in 1944 and committed them on the Eastern Front; it carried the emblem of the leaping knight on the turrets.
The Zimmerit is already cast on the model, so handle it carefully when sanding the joints, otherwise you will erase its texture. Finish the running gear and the tracks before you fit the fenders. Complement the yellow base color with green and brown stripes sprayed from a shorter distance. Build up dust and mud from the bottom upward with pigments and emphasize the metal edges of the tracks with graphite or a dark metallic shade.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
