An injection-molded plastic kit of the Imperial Star Destroyer from the Star Wars film saga in 1:12300 scale. It is the Model Set version from the German manufacturer Revell, to which the manufacturer adds basic paints, a brush and glue, so building can start right after opening the box. The model is put together as a static display piece with no moving functions.
The Imperial-class Star Destroyer belongs among the best-known vessels of the whole saga. Its wedge-shaped hull with a flat lower deck stands out, as do the superstructure of the command bridge with its pair of spherical sensors on top and the trio of large engine nozzles at the stern. In the storytelling it serves as a carrier of fighter craft and ground units and it appears as a symbol of Imperial superiority in numbers. The subject is a film one, not real hardware, so the scale rests on the manufacturer's figure and cannot be compared against a surviving original.
Once glued together, the hull is best sprayed in a single light gray shade and only then brought to life. The fine grooves and the dividing lines of the panels stand out after a dark wash is run in and wiped off along the longitudinal axis once dry. The engine nozzles look good in a cool blue-white tone. The model is small, so cut the parts off with a fine saw and fill the seams in small doses.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The Model Set, according to the manufacturer, holds basic paints, a brush and glue; other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
