A set of four printed resin modern combat helmets after the pattern used in the armies of the United States and NATO, in 1:35 scale from the Turkish brand Ginger Cat. The manufacturer designed them in house and makes them by high-resolution resin printing, and according to its figures the parts need only minimal clean-up. The box gives the count of four pieces.
A modern combat helmet is no longer just head protection: it carries rails for night vision, side mounts for accessories and a retention system of its own. With this set the manufacturer highlights exactly those features, that is the shell, the night vision mount, the side rails and the retention system. In a diorama a helmet can be used on a figure, set down on the armor of a vehicle, on a backpack or dropped at a position.
First wash the printed resin parts in warm soapy water so that the print residue disappears from the surface and the paint will hold. Cut off the supports with a saw or a cutting disc, never with nippers, which will break the resin. The manufacturer recommends applying a base before painting. Glue the parts with cyanoacrylate glue or epoxy, as cement for plastic will not hold here. A dark wash into the recesses and a drybrush on the edges will draw out the detail. Wear a respirator while sanding.
