An add-on set in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Special Hobby. It contains twin machine guns for the dorsal and ventral gun positions of the Baltimore bomber and, according to the manufacturer, also a small photo-etched part. The set is designed for the new kit from the same manufacturer and does not make up a standalone model of the aircraft.
The Baltimore was an American twin-engine attack bomber, built mainly for the Royal Air Force and used chiefly in the Mediterranean. Compared with the first series, the Mk.II version received heavier defensive armament: a gunner manned both the dorsal and the ventral position with a pair of machine guns. It is precisely the paired barrels with belt feed that belong among the details hard to capture in injection-molded plastic.
Free the printed parts from their print supports with a sharp scalpel and sand the contact areas smooth. Separate the photo-etched part from the fret on a hard surface and dress the edges with a file. Printed and photo-etched parts alike are bonded with super glue, that is with cyanoacrylate; cement for polystyrene has no effect on them. The machine guns stand out if you paint them a dark metallic shade over the primer and then gently polish the edges with pencil lead. It is best to sand wet and with your airways protected.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
