The MiG-15 / MiG-15bis TFace set is a precisely cut masking set for models of the MiG-15 fighter and the MiG-15bis version in 1:48 scale. The TFace designation means that the box holds masks for the canopy glazing on both sides, that is, from the inside as well. The set is cut to fit the MiG-15 kit from Eduard.
When the glazing frames are painted only from the outside, bare clear plastic is visible on a look into the cockpit and the illusion falls apart. With the inner set of masks the frame can be sprayed in the cockpit shade from the inside and in camouflage from the outside. The canopy then looks like a glazed window with a frame, not like a transparent bubble. On an aircraft with as prominent a canopy as the MiG-15 had, that difference shows well.
Lift the masks off the sheet with tweezers and press them down with a toothpick or a wooden stick so that they seat into the curves as well. Stick the inner set on first and spray the interior shade, and only then mask from the outside. Cover the remaining area of the glazing with ordinary masking tape. Apply the paint in thin coats, as a heavy coat tears when the mask comes off. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has dried, not after several days.
This is an accessory, not an airplane model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
