Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the battleship Mikasa in 1:700 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa. The manufacturer labels the edition as Full Hull Special in the Full Detail Up version, that is with a full hull down to the keel rather than in a waterline version. What exactly this edition adds over the basic set is given in the instructions in the kit.
Mikasa was a pre-dreadnought battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy, built in a British yard and commissioned in 1902. She carried four heavy 305 mm guns in two twin turrets and a battery of 152 mm guns in casemates. As the flagship of Admiral Togo she led the Japanese force in the Battle of Tsushima in May 1905, which decided the Russo-Japanese War at sea. Today the ship is preserved as a memorial at Yokosuka.
A full hull means the model can be set on keel blocks or on a stand; think it over before you glue the hull together. Wooden decks come out well over an ocher base with a later wash in the seams, while steel surfaces take a matte gray. Fit the fine railings, the yards and the rigging only at the end and glue them with super glue. Seal the finished model with a matte varnish so that brush marks do not shine.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
