A universal clamping holder of aluminum alloy for 3.175 mm shanks, from DSPIAE. A body of light alloy, clamped with a collet.
Responsibility details are not available.
A handle with a clamping collet for tools with a shank 3.175 mm in diameter. The body of aluminum alloy is light but stiff enough not to flex under pressure, and the surface does not slip in the fingers even once sanding dust has settled on it. Scriber blades, small drill bits and grinding heads are all clamped in one holder in turn.
Slide the tool into the collet and tighten the sleeve moderately; overtightening damages both the thread and the shank. Keep the tool projecting as little as possible so that it does not flex under pressure. Loosen the collet after work and blow the chips out of it, otherwise they settle inside and the next tool will not seat on the axis.
The package holds the holder only; tools are not part of it. Before buying, check the shank diameter of your own tools; the ranges of different brands differ in this size and an adapter is not usually supplied. The holder is intended for hand work, not for clamping into a power drive.
The holder makes most sense for anyone who already has, or plans to have, several tools with the same shank. One handle for a whole group means less clutter on the bench and a constant grip the hand gets used to. A light metal body also keeps its shape after years, unlike plastic holders, which gradually spread at the clamping point.
