Six solid brass bars one and a half millimeters in diameter. The size lies between fine details and load-bearing pins: it carries the arm of a figure or the front section of landing gear, yet it still hides inside a relatively slim part. It is also used as a replacement for a broken plastic pin and as an axle where a part is to stay able to turn.
Brass is solid and markedly stiffer in bending than plastic, while it can still be shaped with a file. An end ground to a cone makes it easier to insert. Once degreased the surface takes primer and paint without trouble, but without a primer paint will not hold on smooth metal.
The set is aimed at modelers who do conversions, at builders of robot figures and at traditional modelers who reinforce the joints of canopies, landing gear and masts. One and a half millimeters is the size reached for whenever the finest ones seem too little and two millimeters already too much.
Keep the short offcuts; an ordinary pin measures only a few millimeters and the remnants will do for plenty of joints. Protect your eyes when shortening metal, as the flying end carries considerable speed, and wipe the filings away with a damp cloth after sanding.
