Six solid brass bars two millimeters in diameter. This size is a good compromise: it still hides inside most parts, yet it already carries a joint or the whole arm of a robot figure. It is used for the pins of movable joints, for axles and for the internal reinforcement of parts that would sag in plastic.
The material is solid and markedly stiffer in bending than plastic, while it does not go brittle with age the way a glued styrene joint does. The ends can be ground to a cone and the bar then goes even into a hole that is not an exact fit. The surface is primed and painted as usual once degreased.
The set is for modelers who do conversions, for builders of robot figures and for anyone repairing a broken part. Two millimeters is the most frequently reached-for size in the whole range, because almost anything can be reinforced with it, from the leg of a figure to a mast on a ship.
A piece of bar is left over after every repair, so it pays to keep even short offcuts; pins are usually only a few millimeters long. Use eye protection when shortening metal, as the flying end carries considerable speed, and wipe the filings away with a damp cloth after sanding.
