Responsibility details are not available.
A photographic publication from the British publisher Wingleader, not a kit. It is volume number 34 of the Photo Archive series, it was put together by Simon W Parry and it has 72 pages in a softcover binding. The Photo Archive series is built on large-format period photographs with detailed captions and adds color profiles to them. The text is in English.
The Meteor F.8 was the main day fighter of the RAF in the first half of the fifties. Against the older versions it was given a longer fuselage, a revised tail surface, an ejection seat and Rolls-Royce Derwent engines. The reconnaissance FR.9 followed from the F.8, but it was given a lengthened nose with cameras and worked at low altitude over the target. Both versions flew with squadrons in Britain and with units stationed in Germany and in the Middle East.
The book is above all a picture archive, so it will be appreciated by modelers who build the Meteor and are looking for photographic reference on details, on the shades of the camouflage and on the markings of a particular machine. Readers interested in the first generation of British jet aircraft and in its service with the RAF will also get use from it. Anyone looking for a monograph with extensive text and technical drawings will reach for a different title.
