Chrome is the test of every silver paint. When the pigment is coarse, the result looks like aluminum dust; when the binder is thick, a brush leaves a mark. The MKS line from DSPIAE aims at exactly that: the metallic particles are very fine and the binder levels itself out once applied, so the face stays continuous and mirrors. Chrome Silver is the lightest and most lustrous shade of the three.
The marker pen has two tips: the thin one, 0.5 mm wide, draws lines and outlines edges; the wider one, 2.0 mm wide, will cover an area in one stroke. The spare tip is kept in the cap. The base decides: the smoother and more lustrous it is, the closer the effect comes to real chrome. On a matte primer you get a matte silver instead.
It suits builders of robot kits, cars and figures who need a lustrous metal without an airbrush and without mixing. Spraying handles large areas better; here the strength lies in small, quick work.
Chrome is unforgiving toward the base. If a face is really meant to be mirror-like, it pays to polish it beforehand or go over it with a gloss primer and let it dry thoroughly. Every scratch and every speck of dust is emphasized under a metallic layer rather than hidden.
Put the cap back on after work, otherwise the tip dries out. Work in a ventilated room.
