Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of the Pz.Kpfw. VI Ausf. E heavy tank, known as the Tiger I, in the early production form. The release is dedicated to the machine associated with Kurt Knispel, the most successful tank gunner of the Second World War. Early examples differ from later ones in a number of particulars: they have a different arrangement of the commander's cupola, different exhaust covers, front headlights, fittings on the hull and a different solution for the front fenders. It is precisely these differences that decide whether the finished model matches a particular period or merely represents a Tiger in general.
The Tiger I was a German heavy tank brought into service in 1942. It was marked out by strong frontal armor, a gun derived from an anti-aircraft gun and interleaved road wheels, which gave a good ride but complicated maintenance, because changing an inner wheel meant taking off the outer one as well. It was a machine expensive to build and demanding to operate, but its appearance also had a psychological effect.
Finish and varnish the running gear and the interior before you close up the hull. Line the interleaved wheels up dry in advance; fitting them is the most laborious part of building a Tiger. Try the tracks dry on the wheels and tension them only once they have set. After varnishing, weather with a wash and pigments, above all under the fenders and on the running gear, where most of the mud and dust collects on a heavy vehicle.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
