Three gray sheets of tough polystyrene one millimeter thick. It is the thickest gauge in the range normally offered and is used where a part has to hold its shape on its own: add-on armor plates, bulkheads, floors, the bases of display bases, frames and the load-bearing parts of scratch-built conversions.
The surface carries a printed scale, so measuring is done directly on the sheet and there is no need to put a ruler underneath. On right-angled parts that saves the most time, because it is enough to mark two points and run the cut along the edge.
The material will be appreciated by converters, diorama builders and everyone who would rather make a missing part than hunt for a ready-made set. Polystyrene behaves just like the plastic of kits, so sanding, filling and painting go without surprises and the joint between the sheet and the kit is indistinguishable once dry.
If you are buying plastic sheet for the first time, reckon with the gauges being combined in practice: a millimeter for the load-bearing layer and thinner material for the skin that is glued onto it. Clear the offcuts and the dust from sanding plastic up with a damp cloth; dry, it scatters all over the room.
