The DSPIAE AT-CJ angle cutting station

A jig that holds the material at a precise angle and guides the blade, so the cut does not depend on how steady your hand is. The construction is symmetrical and rests on a mirrored pair of stops, thanks to which you can make the matching counterpart at the same angle without measuring again. That is exactly what is needed when building from profiles, because two parts that are to seat against each other must have angles complementary to one another.

What the station can handle

According to the manufacturer it is counted on for plastic rods up to three millimeters in diameter and for plastic sheets up to one millimeter thick. Metals must not be cut on it. There is no point in trying thicker material; the blade would jam and the stop would shift under the pressure.

How to work with it

• Press the material against the stop along the whole seating face, or it will twist during the cut.
• Cut with several light strokes, not one strong one; with thin profiles the end snaps off otherwise.
• Change the blade at the first sign that the cut needs force.
• Keep the station clean; offcuts under the stop throw the angle off more than anything else.

The station will be appreciated by builders of dioramas, buildings and their own constructions from plastic profiles, and by everyone who needs a series of parts with the same bevel. Spare blades are sold separately.

If you are cutting a series of parts of the same length, fasten a simple stop to the table beside the station. The jig then watches the angle and the stop the length, so nothing has to be measured out even with dozens of pieces. The blade is very sharp; keep the station out of the reach of children.
