A photo-etched detail set for the instrument panel of the German Messerschmitt Bf 109E fighter in 1:24 scale from Airscale. It is not an aircraft kit but a cockpit accessory replacing the simplified instrument panel from the plastic kit. The set combines multi-layer photo-etched metal, waterslide decals for the dials and clear film simulating the instrument glass.
The Bf 109E, nicknamed Emil, was a German single-seat fighter with an inverted V12 Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine. It was one of the key Luftwaffe versions in the period of the Battle of Britain in 1940. This set reproduces the cockpit with its period German instrument layout faithfully.
Separate the etched parts and line them up according to the instructions, glue them with cyanoacrylate (super glue) and use tweezers. Lay the dial decals onto the etched openings and, once dry, go over them with a drop of gloss varnish for a glass effect. Paint the base of the panel in the typical German cockpit color (RLM 66) before you apply the decals.
This is a detail set, not an aircraft model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
