A plastic kit of the sports prototype Mercedes C9 in 1:43 scale from Heller. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mercedes C9 was a closed-cockpit Group C sports prototype, the endurance-racing class in which the World Sportscar Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans were contested in the 1980s. The car was developed jointly by the Swiss team Sauber and Mercedes-Benz, so it is also known as the Sauber-Mercedes C9. In 1989 it took its crew to overall victory at Le Mans and was among the fastest cars on the circuit's long straight. Its low, closed body with a large rear wing is one of the most distinctive shapes of the entire Group C era.
1:43 is a compact scale among car models: the finished car measures around eleven centimeters, so a whole row of cars fits side by side in a display case. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is glued with ordinary cement for polystyrene, following the included instructions.
At this small scale, a smooth paint finish matters most, since every imperfection shows on the curved body. Carefully sand and polish the seams and any sink marks before spraying. Apply the paint in thin coats so fine edges do not fill in. Fit the glazing only after painting; any decals settle best on a gloss surface with no trapped air underneath.
The kit suits collectors of racing cars as well as those building smaller models for a collection in a common scale. Paints, glue and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
