The plastic sprues alone of the kit of the MiG-21MF fighter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MiG-21MF was the version that practically every friendly air arm knew. The R-13-300 engine, a built-in twin-barrel cannon and four pylons made it a usable all-rounder, a fighter for day combat as well as a carrier of unguided rockets. It was built in enormous numbers, flew from Czechoslovakia through the Middle East to Southeast Asia and in many countries served long after 1990.
A package without equipment is aimed at modelers who build the same type repeatedly. On a second and third build the accessories, decals and masks are left over from the previous boxes, so the box with the plastic alone holds exactly what gets used up.
Before a modeler reaches for this package, they should check that reference for the build and the markings is at hand. Without it the order of assembly is easily lost on a complex supersonic machine. Anyone who has already built one such box, however, can put their effort into a better surface finish instead.
A second use also suggests itself. Two identical machines side by side in different finishes show how differently one design looked in the service of two countries. It is exactly on this type that the range of variants is so wide that a pair of models on the shelf makes sense.
