This is a set of pre-cut (die-cut) self-adhesive painting masks for the American Lockheed Martin F-16CJ Block 50 fighter in 1:72 from KV Models. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for masking while paint is sprayed. The masks are cut for the specific Tamiya kit; on another F-16 kit they may not fit. The set contains masks for the canopy glazing and masks for the wheels (tires and hubs).
The rounded one-piece canopy of the F-16 is hard to mask with tape. With an accurately cut mask it is enough to stick it down, spray the color of the frame and take it off, and you get sharp, clean edges of the canopy frame and clear glazing. The wheel masks separate the tire from the hub, so the paint does not run over and the transition is even. Each mask follows the shape of the parts of the Tamiya kit.
Stick the masks onto a clean, degreased surface and press them into every recess. Spray the paint in thin coats so that it does not run under the edge; the sharpest edge arises on a clean coat with no overspray. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, while the coat has not fully hardened. Do not stretch the masks, or they will lose their precise fit.
This is an accessory for a kit, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
