Resin PAG-14 airfield plates in 1:72 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. These are parts for building the paved surface that a finished model stands on. It is not an aircraft model or a part of one but a base that gives a model its setting. Printing in resin captures the texture of the surface and the joints between the plates.
PAG is the designation of the precast reinforced concrete plates from which taxiways, flight lines and reserve runways were put together at Soviet and Russian airfields. The plates were laid side by side in a regular grid and the joints between them are pronounced in photographs. The number in the designation matches the thickness of the plate in centimeters. The advantage of this construction was speed: a surface could be laid even at a makeshift airfield and, if damaged, replaced piece by piece.
Release the plates from the supports and sand the underside flat, so that the slab does not sit crooked. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Never paint concrete in a single shade: break the base up with several close tones, darken the joints and add oil stains and rubber marks from tires to the surfaces. Pigment applied dry will give the surface its roughness.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
