A reference publication devoted to the heavy transport helicopter CH-47D and CH-47F Chinook, issued as a limited edition. It is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Chinook is a heavy transport helicopter recognizable at first glance: it has no tail rotor, because it carries two main rotors one behind the other, turning in opposite directions and canceling each other's torque. The engines sit high at the rear, cargo is loaded through a rear ramp and a heavy load can also be carried slung beneath the fuselage. That lets it fly in mountains and in desert where another machine could not deliver the load.
The CH-47D is the older modernized standard, which stayed with military operators for decades. The newer CH-47F has a reworked fuselage structure that reduces vibration, and a modern cockpit with screens in place of classic instruments. The differences between the two versions matter to modelers, because they concern the cockpit, the fairings on the fuselage and the external equipment.
A reference publication focused on a single type gives the builder what kit instructions do not: context, the look of the machine in service, and support in deciding how to finish a model. On a machine that has served for decades and gone through many changes, such support is doubly welcome. The title was issued as a limited edition.
For the modeler who builds the Chinook in any scale and wants a solid reference at hand, and for anyone interested in helicopters in general. It is a publication, not a kit: the model, paints and accessories are not included, unless stated otherwise.
