Anyone who sprays regularly uses several times more solvent than paint. Thinning itself is the smaller part; most of it goes on flushing the airbrush between shades and on the final cleaning. A four-hundred-milliliter bottle therefore lasts a considerably longer time than repeatedly bought small bottles.
The product is intended for lacquer paints and for other products of the same system. It also dissolves surface-finishing products and metallic shades, so one bottle covers the usual palette on a workbench. It is not suitable for water-thinnable paints, which have their own solvent.
The second role is corrective. A spoiled or grainy coat can be wiped off with a cloth dampened in this solvent before it dries deep. On older layers the process is slower and you have to reckon with damaging what lies underneath as well.
Work in a well ventilated room and away from open flame. Close the bottle immediately after pouring, because the solvent evaporates quickly. For precise dosing it helps to pour a smaller amount into a bottle with a dropper.
The bottle has a practical use in reviving thickened paint from which part of the solvent has evaporated during storage. A few drops and thorough stirring return the contents of the bottle to their original state. For cleaning the rubber seals of an airbrush it is not suitable, on the other hand; the solvent damages them over time and it is better to remove them for flushing. Pouring is practical through a small funnel, as the neck of the large bottle is harder to hit and spilled solvent damages a varnished bench.
