A masking tape from the Mr. Masking Tape line, 10 mm wide, in the high adhesion version. Intended for bounding off areas before spraying.
Responsibility details are not available.
Masking tape bounds off the area that is to stay free of paint and keeps a crisp transition between two shades. It is used to divide camouflage schemes, to cover glazing, for the boundaries of a fuselage or body finish and to secure parts during sanding. Compared with ordinary paper tape from a hardware store, modeling tape has a thinner carrier and a straight edge, so paint does not creep under it as much and the edge stays legible even in a small scale.
The width of 10 mm is a middle format: on its own it covers a larger area than narrow strips, and it can still be trimmed to shape. The designation High Adhesion in the name means a version with higher tack than the basic variant of the line. It suits places where ordinary tape does not hold, that is, rounded surfaces, a rougher surface or spots where the mask has to bend over an edge.
Stick the tape onto a clean, degreased surface before spraying and press the edge down along its whole length with a toothpick or a smooth stick; it is precisely an edge that does not seal that causes paint to creep under. Apply the paint in thin layers and spray rather perpendicular to the mask than under it. Remove the tape shortly after it has dried, slowly and folding it back on itself. On fresh paint, decals and delicate surfaces, first reduce the tack by sticking the tape once onto a clean smooth surface and pulling it off again.
For builders of aircraft, vehicles and cars who spray multicolor schemes, and for everyone who needs a mask to hold more reliably. The tape is supplied on its own. Paints, thinner and other masking materials are not included, unless stated otherwise.
