The kit captures the light Iltis cross-country vehicle in the version carrying the MILAN anti-tank missile system. It is an injection-molded plastic model in 1:35 scale from ACE, a manufacturer that specializes in less usual vehicles of the Cold War. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Iltis, that is type 183, was brought into service by the German Bundeswehr from the end of the 1970s as a successor to the older Munga vehicle. It was a light cross-country car with all-wheel drive, a payload of around half a ton and a gasoline four-cylinder engine, which thanks to the low weight coped even with difficult terrain. In the anti-tank version it carried a launcher for MILAN guided missiles on a special mounting, so a small vehicle became a quickly movable anti-tank weapon for light and reconnaissance units.
Cut the parts off the sprue with side cutters and level the gate remains with a file, so that the joints seat. Glue with a thin cement for plastic applied into the joint with a small brush. On an open vehicle the interior matters, so finish and paint it before you seat the body. Create the base with primer. German vehicles of the day carried a three-tone camouflage, which comes out well if you spray the boundaries between shades softly and then unify the whole with a dark flowing coat and dust from pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
