A finished metal model of the Cromwell IV tank in the markings of the Czechoslovak Independent Armoured Brigade at Dunkirk, May 1945, 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Cromwell was a British cruiser tank of the second half of the war and its main asset was speed. It was powered by the Rolls-Royce Meteor engine, derived from the Merlin aero V12, and ran on Christie suspension with large road wheels and no return rollers. The Mk.IV version carried a 75 mm gun able to fire both antitank and high-explosive ammunition, and the angular boxy hull gives the model a very characteristic shape.
From the autumn of 1944 until May 1945 the Czechoslovak Independent Armoured Brigade held the German garrison of the port of Dunkirk under siege, and Cromwells formed the core of its tank armament. It was one of the few formations in which Czech crews fought on the Western Front in their own tanks, and it was here that they saw the surrender of the besieged garrison. For a Czech collection it is therefore one of the most interesting pieces there can be.
The model is supplied finished: assembled, painted and with printed markings. Nothing is glued or sprayed, and the metal form gives it a weight a plastic kit does not have.
The model is supplied finished and is not meant for any further assembly. A display case, a base and accessories are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
