The L-13 Blanik is a two-seat training glider from the Let Kunovice works, one of the most widespread gliders of all and the machine on which whole generations of glider pilots learned to fly. The L-13TJ version is a Blanik fitted with an auxiliary jet engine, hence the English designation Turbine Assisted Glider. The combination of the slender wings of a glider and a jet powerplant makes this machine an unusual piece for any display case.
The set complements models in 1:72 scale and is intended for Blanik kits from Special Hobby, AZ Model, Kovozavody Prostejov and Profiline. Exactly what it contains and which kit parts it replaces are stated in the description and instructions from the maker of the set.
Wash and degrease the parts before gluing. Cut any excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the traces of manufacture down with fine sandpaper. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts and always try the fit dry first, because upgrade sets tend to be designed for a particular kit and another one will call for small adjustments. It pays to work step by step and to glue only once the fit has been checked dry.
The set is for modelers who build Czech aircraft in 1:72 scale and want to take a Blanik model beyond the level of an ordinary kit. Admirers of gliding equipment looking for an unusual machine for the display case will appreciate it too. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
