Display base with airfield plates, 1:48 is a 3D-printed resin display base for a model with the surface of Soviet airfield plates, in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds a 3D-printed resin display base whose surface is made up of Soviet airfield plates, in 1:48 scale. It is neither an aircraft model nor a kit, but a base on which you stand a finished model. The print holds the fine anti-skid pattern of the plates and the joints between them.
Soviet metal airfield plates were laid at field airstrips and also used to reinforce surfaces at permanent bases. They have a characteristic anti-skid pattern and locks along their edges that let them interlock. A model standing on such a surface gains a setting at once, because the plates by themselves give away where the scene is taking place. The base also protects the model and makes it easier to handle.
Wash the 3D-printed parts in warm soapy water first, to get rid of any print resin residue. Cut the print supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as you can and sand the marks away with respiratory protection. Resin does not bond with polystyrene cement, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a thin coat of primer before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold well on the smooth print. Equipment around an aircraft comes alive with weathering: a dark wash into the joints, dust with dry pigment and worn patches suggested with a metallic shade.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
