Hasegawa ultra-fine double-sided tape, 1 mm wide

A double-sided adhesive tape just 1 mm wide is an aid a modeler appreciates every time they need to hold something in place temporarily and do not want to reach for glue. Ordinary double-sided tape is too wide and too coarse for modeling work – this one is deliberately extremely narrow, so it fits even under millimeter-sized parts, into grooves and onto narrow strips, and does not show from underneath the part. The tape is adhesive on both sides, so it works as a thin interlayer between a part and a support or between a part and the model.

Use

• Fixing small parts to a wooden stick, a toothpick or a holder during painting and spraying – the part does not move and you do not hold it in your fingers.
• Holding a part during sanding and cleaning up, so that it does not jump away and break.
• Holding photo-etched parts, where cyanoacrylate glue would whiten the surface or flow into the detail.
• Temporarily trying out the position of a part dry, before you decide to glue it permanently.
• Holding masks, transparent parts and small accessories that must not come into contact with the solvent in a glue.

Who it is for

For plastic modelers, builders of figures and dioramas and for anyone who works with very small parts and needs to fix them safely. It is useful above all when working with photo-etched and transparent parts, where an ordinary glue does more harm than good. The tape holds on plastic, paper and film as well.

The hold is firm enough to fix a part but still allows it to be taken off carefully once the work is done – take it off slowly and support the part from underneath, so that it does not get damaged. On very thin and fragile parts, test the adhesion on an offcut first. The tape is not a substitute for modeling glue in permanent joints.
