A set of resin main landing gear wheels for the Junkers Ju-52 airliner and transport aircraft in 1:72 scale. This is not an airplane kit but a replacement part. The casting has no parting line across the tread, so the most unpleasant part of cleaning up plastic wheels falls away, and the tread pattern and the hub detail stay sharp. The manufacturer has designated the set for the Airfix kit.
The three-engine Junkers Ju-52 with its corrugated duralumin skin is among the best-known aircraft of its day. It came about as an airliner for civil routes and in the 1930s and 1940s it became an all-purpose transport aircraft that carried cargo, paratroopers and the wounded. The robust landing gear with its hefty wheels was designed for operating from unpaved strips, and that is exactly why the wheels are so conspicuous on a model.
Separate the parts from the casting blocks, level the mating surface and wash them in lukewarm water with dish soap before painting. They are glued with super glue. A tire suits a dark gray shade rather than pure black, and a hub takes a metallic or a colored tone depending on the particular aircraft. Light dust from pigments on the underside will give the wheel contact with the ground.
The set is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The Airfix kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
