Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the American guided missile destroyer USS Michael Murphy in 1:200 scale. The ship belongs to the Arleigh Burke class and the model is done with a full hull, that is, including the underwater part. In 1:200 it is a large build that deserves a permanent place in a display case and offers room for really fine finishing.
Arleigh Burke class destroyers form the backbone of the surface forces of the US Navy. They carry a fire control system with large flat antennas on the superstructure and vertical launch cells from which both anti-aircraft missiles and missiles against land targets are fired. The Michael Murphy is one of the later units of the class; she entered service in 2012 and Pearl Harbor became her home port. She is named after an officer of the naval special forces decorated with the highest American military decoration.
With a large model it pays to work section by section and to stiffen the hull before joining it. The deck is painted separately from the sides, otherwise the transitions are hard to mask. A gray finish looks more interesting when the individual areas are shifted slightly in shade and the welds are suggested with a fine dark wash. A stand or a base is practically a necessity on a full-hull model.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
