A plastic kit of the German Fieseler Fi 156 Storch liaison and observation aircraft in the C-2 version in 1:72 scale from the maker IBG. The package is aimed at the combat service of the machine, that is, at the form in which it flew over the front. It is a new mold, not a release from an old one.
The Storch was a master of short takeoff and landing. Fixed slats along the whole length of the leading edge, slotted flaps and the long travel of its landing gear let it come down onto an area the size of a tennis court and fly away from it again. It served for liaison, for observing artillery fire, for carrying officers and for casualty evacuation, and that on every front where Germany operated in the Second World War. Its angular glazed cabin became one of the best-known aircraft shapes of its day.
The extensive glazing is the key thing on a Storch: finish the cabin and paint it before glazing, and use masks on the frames. Glue the struts and the landing gear only after the main parts, so that they do not break off while handling. German camouflage stands out when the surfaces are lightened finely and the lines brought out with a thin wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
