Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the German Fieseler Fi 156 Storch aircraft in the D-1 version in 1:72 scale from the maker IBG. Unlike the ordinary liaison version, this is the ambulance form, which can be told by the changes to the fuselage for loading stretchers. The model belongs to the new line of molds that the maker devoted to the Storch.
The ability to land on a short and unprepared strip made the Storch the ideal machine for casualty evacuation straight from near the front. The ambulance version was given a reworked fuselage with larger doors, so that stretchers could be loaded without lengthy transfers. The aircraft could thus get a wounded man to a rear hospital at a time when ground evacuation would still have been carrying him along a field track. It flew on the Eastern Front, in Africa and in Europe, and its civilian look contrasted with the surroundings it worked in.
The cabin is visible through the large glazing, so finish it and paint it before glazing, and use masks on the frames. Leave the struts and the landing gear until the end. The white fields with the red cross call for careful masking, or else a good decal laid onto a gloss coat. Lighten the lower surfaces so that the model does not look flat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
