A set of front weighted wheels for the American M3 half-track carrier in its early version, 1:16 scale, the maker DEF Model. This is not a vehicle kit but a replacement part. Weighted means that the tire is flattened at the contact patch, as if the weight of the vehicle were pressing on it, which on a model changes the impression of the whole chassis at once. The manufacturer has designated the set for the AHHQ kit.
A plastic wheel from a kit is perfectly round and on a base it looks as if it hardly touched it. A real tire deforms under load, and it is exactly this detail that makes an enormous difference in the large 1:16 scale, because the wheel here is large and clearly visible. The set also reproduces the tread pattern of one particular tire maker, which on American vehicles decides the accuracy of a model.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap and let them dry out. They are glued with super glue. Seat the wheel so that the flattened part points exactly downward, otherwise the model will look unnatural. Do not paint the tire in pure black; dark gray with fine dust along the sides looks more convincing.
The set is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The AHHQ kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
