A decal set for a model of the American EA-18G Growler carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft in 1:72 scale from the maker DEF Model, with the markings of the Yellow Jackets squadron. This is not an airplane kit but an accessory that assigns a finished model a particular machine and unit. The manufacturer has designated the set for the Academy kit.
The Growler is based on the two-seat version of the carrier fighter and its task is jamming enemy radars and communications. On the wingtips it carries pods with receivers, and under the fuselage and the wings the jamming systems, thanks to which it can open a way into defended airspace for the other aircraft. It is precisely on electronic warfare aircraft that the colorful squadron markings on the vertical tails tend to be especially striking, so a decal set changes the look of a model really noticeably.
Give the area under the decal a gloss coat and let it cure, otherwise a silvery haze will form under the decal. Release the decal in water, seat it and press it down with a cotton swab. On riveted and intricate surfaces use a decal softener. Seal the finished work with a matte varnish to match the rest of the model and check the edges against the light.
The set is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The Academy kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
