Landing gear bay plugs for the Wellington bomber in 1:72 scale. These are not masking tape but shaped foam plugs that are pushed into the bays before spraying so that no paint gets inside. The target kit is the Airfix Wellington.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a mask for the glazing but a set of foam plugs for the landing gear bays. The shaped pieces of flexible foam are pushed into the open bay and stop paint from reaching it while the surrounding surfaces are sprayed. The set is aimed at the kit of the British Wellington bomber in the Mk.Ia, Mk.Ic and Mk.II versions from Airfix.
The landing gear bays are among the places that are hardest to mask. They are deep, their shape is complex and tape will not stay in them. When the top coat gets inside during spraying it has to be painted over laboriously by brush and the transition shows. A foam plug is simply pressed into the bay, holds by its own springiness and is lifted out after spraying. The material does not deform, so the set lasts for another model as well.
It will be appreciated by a modeler who is building this bomber and wants clean landing gear bays without hand touch-ups. The set contains no masks for the glazing; those are sold separately or in a combined pack with the plugs. It also suits anyone building several machines of the same type one after another, because the shaped pieces stand up to repeated use.
The Airfix kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
